What Is The IFESS Conference?

IFESS, the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society, is the premier society for neural interfaces and neurorehabilitation. For this 21th edition of the IFESS conference the society for the first time joins together with three complementary societies in the field of Neurorehabilitation and a common focus on advanced rehabilitation technologies, translation and clinical delivery. This joint effort brings together practitioners, clinicians, researchers, engineers and the related industries with the goal to interchange experience and expertise. The participating conferences are:

  • International Neurorehabilitation Symposium (INRS), organized by the International Industry Society in Advanced Rehabilitation Technology (IISART)
  • International Conference on Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR), organized by the International Consortium on Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR)
  • Annual Conference of the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society (IFESS)
  • Annual Meeting of the British Society for Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM)

During four days we will organize joint keynotes, workshops, poster sessions and round-tables. In four conference tracks, all open to all participants, IFESS will offer you a platform for FES knowledge exchange and dissemination to a broader audience. Specific calls for workshops, oral, and poster presentations will be announced soon. More infos will become available here and on the RehabWeek website: www.rehabweek.org

Welcome from the Chairs

On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to welcome you to London for the IFESS 2017 Conference.  This is the first time that IFESS has joined the Rehab Week event,   bringing together researchers and clinicians developing complimentary application of technology aimed at promoting the recovery of people with neurological conditions.   We believe this is an exciting opportunity for IFESS to extend its mission to educate the world about the benefits of FES, as well as providing IFESS members an opportunity to learn from our colleges working similar fields.

The meeting will be held in the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre, situated in the heart of London, close to the Palace of Westminster on the banks of the river Thames and within easy reach of all the attractions that this great and vibrant world city has to offer.

We look forward to seeing you in London!

Nick Donaldson, Jane Buridge and Paul Taylor
